The climate in El Pallars is clearly influenced from its nearness to the Mediterranean, up until 1.500 m. From that height onwards, the climate changes to alpine.

The heights, the abrupt relief of the various valley slopes and the specific climate give place to a five-stage vegetation: the lowland zone (from 600 m to 1.000 m), with cork oak and maple; the montane stage (from 1.000 m to 1.600 m), with oak, beech, fir tree and Scotch pine; with oak, beech, fir tree and Scotch pine; the sub alpine zone (from 1.600 m to 2.200 m), with mountain pine; and the alpine zone (from 2.200 m to 2.800 m), with grazing and herbage; and the nival stage (from 2.800 m), with little herbage and very stony.

The meadows (prats de dall) are mainly the landscape that surrounds most of the villages, even now, when there has been a recession in the agricultural sector.

Some are well-known forests as the fir forest in Mata de València, the Forest of Virós and the one in Bonabé, the birch forest in Ancs and Baiasca, etc.
